git-annex-shell: block relay requests
connRepo is only used when relaying git upload-pack and receive-pack.
That's only supposed to be used when git-annex-remotedaemon is serving
git-remote-tor-annex connections over tor. But, it was always set, and
so could be used in other places possibly.

Fixed by making connRepo optional in the P2P protocol interface.

In Command.EnableTor, it's not needed, because it only speaks the
protocol in order to check that it's able to connect back to itself via
the hidden service. So changed that to pass Nothing rather than the git
repo.

In Remote.Helper.Ssh, it's connecting to git-annex-shell p2pstdio,
so is making the requests, so will never need connRepo.

In git-annex-shell p2pstdio, it was accepting git upload-pack and
receive-pack requests over the P2P protocol, even though nothing sent
them. This is arguably a security hole, particularly if the user has
set environment variables like GIT_ANNEX_SHELL_LIMITED to prevent
git push/pull via git-annex-shell.

filter out control characters in error messages
giveup changed to filter out control characters. (It is too low level to
make it use StringContainingQuotedPath.)

error still does not, but it should only be used for internal errors,
where the message is not attacker-controlled.

Changed a lot of existing error to giveup when it is not strictly an
internal error.

Of course, other exceptions can still be thrown, either by code in
git-annex, or a library, that include some attacker-controlled value.
This does not guard against those.

Windows: Support urls like "file:///c:/path"
That is a legal url, but parseUrl parses it to "/c:/path"
which is not a valid path on Windows. So as a workaround, use
parseURIPortable everywhere, which removes the leading slash when
run on windows.

Note that if an url is parsed like this and then serialized back
to a string, it will be different from the input. Which could
potentially be a problem, but is probably not in practice.

An alternative way to do it would be to have an uriPathPortable
that fixes up the path after parsing. But it would be harder to
make sure that is used everywhere, since uriPath is also used
when constructing an URI.

It's also worth noting that System.FilePath.normalize "/c:/path"
yields "c:/path". The reason I didn't use it is that it also
may change "/" to "\" in the path and I wanted to keep the url
changes minimal. Also noticed that convertToWindowsNativeNamespace
handles "/c:/path" the same as "c:/path".

switch from hslogger to purpose-built Utility.Debug
This uses a DebugSelector, rather than debug levels, which will allow
for a later option like --debug-from=Process to only
see debuging about running processes.

The module name that contains the thing being debugged is used as the
DebugSelector (in most cases; does not need to be a hard and fast rule).
Debug calls were changed to add that. hslogger did not display
that first parameter to debugM, but the DebugSelector does get
displayed.

Also fastDebug will allow doing debugging in places that are used in
tight loops, with the DebugSelector coming from the Annex Reader
essentially for free. Not done yet.

start splitting out readonly values from AnnexState
Values in AnnexRead can be read more efficiently, without MVar overhead.
Only a few things have been moved into there, and the performance
increase so far is not likely to be noticable.

This is groundwork for putting more stuff in there, particularly a value
that indicates if debugging is enabled.

The obvious next step is to change option parsing to not run in the
Annex monad to set values in AnnexState, and instead return a pure value
that gets stored in AnnexRead.

add back git-annex branch read cache
The cache was removed way back in 2012,
commit 3417c55189

Then I forgot I had removed it! I remember clearly multiple times when I
thought, "this reads the same data twice, but the cache will avoid that
being very expensive".

The reason it was removed was it messed up the assistant noticing when
other processes made changes. That same kind of problem has recently
been addressed when adding the optimisation to avoid reading the journal
unnecessarily.

Indeed, enableInteractiveJournalAccess is run in just the
right places, so can just piggyback on it to know when it's not safe
to use the cache.

convert to withCreateProcess for async exception safety
Not yet 100% done, so far I've grepped for waitForProcess and converted

Except for some things like P2P.IO and Assistant.TransferrerPool,
and Utility.CoProcess, that manage a pool of processes. See #2

checkSuccessProcess, ignoreFailureProcess, and forceSuccessProcess calls waitForProcess, so
callers of them will also need to be dealt with, and have not been yet.

Sped up query commands that read the git-annex branch by around 5%
The only price paid is one additional MVar read per write to the journal.
Presumably writing a journal file dominiates over a MVar read time by
several orders of magnitude.

--batch does not get the speedup because then it needs to notice when
another process has made a change. Also made the assistant and other damon
modes bypass the optimisation, which would not help them anyway.

update licenses from GPL to AGPL
This does not change the overall license of the git-annex program, which
was already AGPL due to a number of sources files being AGPL already.

Legally speaking, I'm adding a new license under which these files are
now available; I already released their current contents under the GPL
license. Now they're dual licensed GPL and AGPL. However, I intend
for all my future changes to these files to only be released under the
AGPL license, and I won't be tracking the dual licensing status, so I'm
simply changing the license statement to say it's AGPL.

(In some cases, others wrote parts of the code of a file and released it
under the GPL; but in all cases I have contributed a significant portion
of the code in each file and it's that code that is getting the AGPL
license; the GPL license of other contributors allows combining with
AGPL code.)

version the P2P protocol
Unfortunately ReceiveMessage didn't handle unknown messages the way it
was documented to; client sending VERSION would cause the server to
return an ERROR and hang up. Fixed that, but old releases of git-annex
use the P2P protocol for tor and will still have that behavior.

So, version is not negotiated for Remote.P2P connections, only for
Remote.Git connections, which will support VERSION from their first
release. There will need to be a later flag day to change Remote.P2P;
left a commented out line that is the only thing that will need to be
changed then.

Version 1 of the P2P protocol is not implemented yet, but updated
the docs for the DATA change that will be allowed by that version.

Improve startup time for commands that do not operate on remotes
And for tab completion, by not unnessessarily statting paths to remotes,
which used to cause eg, spin-up of removable drives.

Got rid of the remotes member of Git.Repo. This was a bit painful.

Remote.Git modifies the list of remotes as it reads their configs,
so still need a persistent list of remotes. So, put it in as
Annex.gitremotes. It's only populated by getGitRemotes, so commands
like examinekey that don't care about remotes won't do so.

add annex-ignore-command and annex-sync-command configs
Added remote configuration settings annex-ignore-command and
annex-sync-command, which are dynamic equivilants of the annex-ignore
and annex-sync configurations.

For this I needed a new DynamicConfig infrastructure. Its implementation
should be as fast as before when there is no dynamic config, and it caches
so shell commands are only run once.

Note that annex-ignore-command exits nonzero when the remote should be ignored.
While that may seem backwards, it allows using the same command for it as
for annex-sync-command when you want to disable both.

Added remote.<name>.annex-push and remote.<name>.annex-pull
The former can be useful to make remotes that don't get fully synced with
local changes, which comes up in a lot of situations.

The latter was mostly added for symmetry, but could be useful (though less
likely to be).

Implementing `remote.<name>.annex-pull` was a bit tricky, as there's no one
place where git-annex pulls/fetches from remotes. I audited all
instances of "fetch" and "pull". A few cases were left not checking this
config:

* Git.Repair can try to pull missing refs from a remote, and if the local
repo is corrupted, that seems a reasonable thing to do even though
the config would normally prevent it.
* Assistant.WebApp.Gpg and Remote.Gcrypt and Remote.Git do fetches
as part of the setup process of a remote. The config would probably not
be set then, and having the setup fail seems worse than honoring it if it
  is already set.

I have not prevented all the code that does a "merge" from merging branches
from remotes with remote.<name>.annex-pull=false. That could perhaps
be done, but it would need a way to map from branch name to remote name,
and the way refspecs work makes that hard to get really correct. So if the
user fetches manually, the git-annex branch will get merged, for example.
Anther way of looking at/justifying this is that the setting is called
"annex-pull", not "annex-merge".

Run ssh with -n whenever input is not being piped into it
... to avoid it consuming stdin that it shouldn't.

This fixes git-annex-checkpresentkey --batch remote, which didn't output
results for all keys passed into it.

Other git-annex commands that communicate with a remote over ssh may also
have been consuming stdin that they shouldn't have, which could have
impacted using them in eg, shell scripts. For example, a shell script
reading files from stdin and passing them to git annex drop would be
impacted by this bug, whenever git annex drop ran git-annex-shell
checkpresent, it would consume part/all of the stdin that the shell script
was supposed to consume.

Fixed by adding a ConsumeStdin parameter to Annex.Ssh.sshOptions, which
is used throughout git-annex to run ssh (in order for ssh connection
caching to work). Every call site was checked to see if it used
CreatePipe for stdin, and if not was marked NoConsumeStdin.

weasel explained that apparmor limits on what files tor can read do not
apply to sockets (because they're not files). And apparently the

remotedaemon looks up the HiddenServicePort in torrc, so if it was

bump maxConnections to 100
10 seemed too low because more than 10 friends could be linked to a repo
over tor, and if all were running the remotedaemon, which makes a
persistent connection for change notification, then the 11th friend
would not be able to access that repo.

100 might be too low, but it's a much larger group of people. And at
that size group, it probably makes sense to structure the network so
that 100 peers are not all trying to access one central node.

refactor ref change watching
Added to change notification to P2P protocol.

Switched to a TBChan so that a single long-running thread can be
started, and serve perhaps intermittent requests for change
notifications, without buffering all changes in memory.

The P2P runner currently starts up a new thread each times it waits
for a change, but that should allow later reusing a thread. Although
each connection from a peer will still need a new watcher thread to run.

The dependency on stm-chans is more or less free; some stuff in yesod
uses it, so it was already indirectly pulled in when building with the
webapp.

git-annex-shell, remotedaemon, git remote: Fix some memory DOS attacks.
The attacker could just send a very lot of data, with no \n and it would
all be buffered in memory until the kernel killed git-annex or perhaps OOM
killed some other more valuable process.

This is a low impact security hole, only affecting communication between
local git-annex and git-annex-shell on the remote system. (With either
able to be the attacker). Only those with the right ssh key can do it. And,
there are probably lots of ways to construct git repositories that make git
use a lot of memory in various ways, which would have similar impact as
this attack.

The fix in P2P/IO.hs would have been higher impact, if it had made it to a
released version, since it would have allowed DOSing the tor hidden
service without needing to authenticate.

(The LockContent and NotifyChanges instances may not be really
exploitable; since the line is read and ignored, it probably gets read
lazily and does not end up staying buffered in memory.)
