start splitting out readonly values from AnnexState
Values in AnnexRead can be read more efficiently, without MVar overhead.
Only a few things have been moved into there, and the performance
increase so far is not likely to be noticable.

This is groundwork for putting more stuff in there, particularly a value
that indicates if debugging is enabled.

The obvious next step is to change option parsing to not run in the
Annex monad to set values in AnnexState, and instead return a pure value
that gets stored in AnnexRead.

propagate signals to the transferrer process group
Done on unix, could not implement it on windows quite.

The signal library gets part of the way needed for windows.
But I had to open https://github.com/pmlodawski/signal/issues/1 because
it lacks raiseSignal.

Also, I don't know what the equivilant of getProcessGroupIDOf is on
windows. And System.Process does not provide a way to send any signal to
a process group except for SIGINT.

convert to withCreateProcess for async exception safety
This handles all createProcessSuccess callers, and aside from process

safety should be complete now.

Also, was able to remove from Utility.Process the old API that I now
know was not a good idea. And proof it was bad: The code size went *down*,
despite there being a fair bit of boilerplate for some future API to

convert to withCreateProcess for async exception safety
Not yet 100% done, so far I've grepped for waitForProcess and converted
everything that uses that to start the process with withCreateProcess.

Except for some things like P2P.IO and Assistant.TransferrerPool,
and Utility.CoProcess, that manage a pool of processes. See #2

for how those will need to be dealt with.

checkSuccessProcess, ignoreFailureProcess, and forceSuccessProcess calls waitForProcess, so
callers of them will also need to be dealt with, and have not been yet.

Display a warning when concurrency is enabled but ssh connection caching is not enabled or won't work due to a crippled filesystem
A warning message is unsatisfying. But erroring out is too hard a failure,
especially since it may well work fine if the user has enabled passwordless
ssh.

I did think about falling back to one ssh connection at a time in this
case, but it would have needed a rework of every ssh call, which
seems far overboard for such a niche problem. There's no single place where
git-annex runs ssh, so no one place that it could block a concurrent call
on a semaphore. And, even if it did fall back to one ssh connection at a
time, it seems to me that doing so without warning the user about the
problem just invites bug reports like "git-annex is ignoring my -J2 and
only doing one download at a time". So a warning is needed, and I suppose
is good enough.

update licenses from GPL to AGPL
This does not change the overall license of the git-annex program, which
was already AGPL due to a number of sources files being AGPL already.

Legally speaking, I'm adding a new license under which these files are
now available; I already released their current contents under the GPL
license. Now they're dual licensed GPL and AGPL. However, I intend
for all my future changes to these files to only be released under the
AGPL license, and I won't be tracking the dual licensing status, so I'm
simply changing the license statement to say it's AGPL.

(In some cases, others wrote parts of the code of a file and released it
under the GPL; but in all cases I have contributed a significant portion
of the code in each file and it's that code that is getting the AGPL
license; the GPL license of other contributors allows combining with
AGPL code.)

remove no longer needed uuid check in prepSocket
Since 3dd43df9c2, the socket warmup does

fix ssh warmup hang
Fix race condition in ssh warmup that caused git-annex to get stuck and
never process some while when run with high levels of concurrency.

So far, I've isolated the problem to processTranscript, which hangs
reading output from ssh in this situation. I don't yet understand why
processTranscript behaves that way.

Since here we don't care about the ssh output, and only want to /dev/null
it, changed to not use processTranscript, avoiding its problem.

avoid the dashed ssh hostname class of security holes
Security fix: Disallow hostname starting with a dash, which would get
passed to ssh and be treated an option. This could be used by an attacker
who provides a crafted ssh url (for eg a git remote) to execute arbitrary
code via ssh -oProxyCommand.

No CVE has yet been assigned for this hole.
The same class of security hole recently affected git itself,
CVE-2017-1000117.

Method: Identified all places where ssh is run, by git grep '"ssh"'
Converted them all to use a SshHost, if they did not already, for
specifying the hostname.

SshHost was made a data type with a smart constructor, which rejects
hostnames starting with '-'.

Note that git-annex already contains extensive use of Utility.SafeCommand,
which fixes a similar class of problem where a filename starting with a
dash gets passed to a program which treats it as an option.

Ssh password prompting improved when using -J
When ssh connection caching is enabled (and when GIT_ANNEX_USE_GIT_SSH is
not set), only one ssh password prompt will be made per host, and only one
ssh password prompt will be made at a time.

This also fixes a race in prepSocket's stale ssh connection stopping
when run with -J. It was possible for one thread to start a cached ssh
connection, and another thread to immediately stop it, resulting in excess
connections being made.

Disable git-annex's support for GIT_SSH and GIT_SSH_COMMAND, unless GIT_ANNEX_USE_GIT_SSH=1 is also set in the environment.
This is necessary because as feared, the extra -n parameter that git-annex
passes breaks uses of these environment variables that expect exactly the
parameters that git passes.

For example, see https://github.com/datalad/datalad/issues/1456

It would of course be possible to pre-close stdin before running ssh so not
needing the -n, and I think that would not even break ssh's password
caching. But it would probably involve a lot of work, possibly would need
to deal with some layering violations, and would be error-prone. The really
clean fix would be to make all the ssh stuff return a CreateProcess, which
could have the handle closed when appropriate, but that would be a large
reworing of the code base.

faecd73f32
Support GIT_SSH and GIT_SSH_COMMAND
They are handled close the same as they are by git. However, unlike git,
git-annex sometimes needs to pass the -n parameter when using these.

So, this has the potential for breaking some setup, and perhaps there ought
to be a ANNEX_USE_GIT_SSH=1 needed to use these. But I'd rather avoid that
if possible, so let's see if anyone complains.

Almost all places where "ssh" was run have been changed to support the env
vars. Anything still calling sshOptions does not support them. In
particular, rsync special remotes don't. Seems that annex-rsync-transport
already gives sufficient control there.

(Fixed in passing: Remote.Helper.Ssh.toRepo used to extract
remoteAnnexSshOptions and pass them to sshOptions, which was redundant
since sshOptions also extracts those.)

Run ssh with -n whenever input is not being piped into it
... to avoid it consuming stdin that it shouldn't.

This fixes git-annex-checkpresentkey --batch remote, which didn't output
results for all keys passed into it.

Other git-annex commands that communicate with a remote over ssh may also
have been consuming stdin that they shouldn't have, which could have
impacted using them in eg, shell scripts. For example, a shell script
reading files from stdin and passing them to git annex drop would be
impacted by this bug, whenever git annex drop ran git-annex-shell
checkpresent, it would consume part/all of the stdin that the shell script
was supposed to consume.

Fixed by adding a ConsumeStdin parameter to Annex.Ssh.sshOptions, which
is used throughout git-annex to run ssh (in order for ssh connection
caching to work). Every call site was checked to see if it used
CreatePipe for stdin, and if not was marked NoConsumeStdin.
