+
+As originally reported in the [comments](http://git-annex.branchable.com/devblog/day_518__S3_versioning_finishing_touches/?updated#comment-ecfa9f9e6075bf524a88f404bb19e086) and now wondering if it has to do with the awkwardness of that bucket -- its name has a period in its name, so https validation fails and we had to [workaround for that in datalad](https://github.com/datalad/datalad/commit/ea8977fddbd05faa3f299562b70d4a491a774cea) as well.  In either case - having at least some debug log message about the problem would be handy
