Currently we have a couple of helpers to manipulate bits in particular sysregs: * config_sctlr_el1(u32 clear, u32 set) * change_cpacr(u64 val, u64 mask) The parameters of these differ in naming convention, order, and size, which is unfortunate. They also differ slightly in behaviour, as change_cpacr() skips the sysreg write if the bits are unchanged, which is a useful optimization when sysreg writes are expensive. Before we gain yet another sysreg manipulation function, let's unify these with a common helper, providing a consistent order for clear/set operands, and the write skipping behaviour from change_cpacr(). Code will be migrated to the new helper in subsequent patches. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
