zap_vma_ptes() is intended to be used by drivers to unmap ptes assigned to the
driver private vmas. This interface is similar to zap_page_range() but is
less general & less likely to be abused.
Needed by the GRU driver.

Ingo Molnar provided a fix to not call _PPC at processor driver
initialization time in "[PATCH] ACPI: fix cpufreq regression" (git
commit e4233dec74)
But it can still happen that _PPC is called at processor driver
initialization time.
This patch should make sure that this is not possible anymore.

The current style for debug messages is to ensure they're always
parsed by the compiler and then subjected to dead code removal.
That way builds won't break only when debug options get enabled,
which is common when they are stripped out early by CPP.
This patch makes CONFIG_MTD_DEBUG adopt that convention.

Current implementation of subpage read feature for NAND has issues with
small page devices. Small page NAND do not support RNDOUT command.
So subpage feature is not applicable for them.
This patch disables support of subpage for small page NAND.
The code is verified on nandsim(SP NAND simulation) and on LP NAND
devices.

This interface is for machine specific code and allows the creation of
voltage/current domains (with constraints) for each regulator. It can
provide regulator constraints that will prevent device damage through
overvoltage or over current caused by buggy client drivers. It also
allows the creation of a regulator tree whereby some regulators are
supplied by others (similar to a clock tree).

Add support to allow consumer device drivers to control their regulator
power supply.
This uses a similar API to the kernel clock interface in that consumer
drivers can get and put a regulator (like they can with clocks atm) and
get/set voltage, current limit, mode, enable and disable. This should
allow consumers complete control over their supply voltage and current
limit. This also compiles out if not in use so drivers can be reused in
systems with no regulator based power control.

Implement lockless get_user_pages_fast for 64-bit powerpc.
Page table existence is guaranteed with RCU, and speculative page references
are used to take a reference to the pages without having a prior existence
guarantee on them.

This patch fixes mac80211 to not use the skb->cb over the queue step
from virtual interfaces to the master. The patch also, for now,
disables aggregation because that would still require requeuing,
will fix that in a separate patch. There are two other places (software
requeue and powersaving stations) where requeue can happen, but that is
not currently used by any drivers/not possible to use respectively.

When compiled with CONFIG_SND_DYNAMIC_MINORS the ALSA core is fine
to have more than 8 PCM devices per card, except one place - the
SNDRV_CTL_IOCTL_PCM_NEXT_DEVICE ioctl, which will not enumerate
devices > 7. This patch fixes the issue, changing the devices list
organisation.
Instead of adding new device to the tail, the list is now kept always
ordered (by card number, then device number). Thus, during enumeration,
it is easy to discover the fact that there is no more given card's
devices. The same limit was present in OSS emulation code. It has
been fixed as well.
Additionally the device field of struct snd_pcm is now int, instead of
unsigned int, as there is no obvious reason for keeping it unsigned.
This caused a lot of problems with comparing this value with other
(almost always signed) variables. There is just one more place where
device number is unsigned - in struct snd_pcm_info, which should be
also sorted out in future.

Simple utility layer for creating ASoC machine instances based on data
in the OpenFirmware device tree. OF aware platform drivers and codec
drivers register themselves with this framework and the framework
automatically instantiates a machine driver. At the moment, the driver
is not very capable and it is expected to be extended as more features
are needed for specifying the configuration in the device tree.
This is most likely temporary glue code to work around limitations in
the ASoC v1 framework. When v2 is merged, most of this driver will
need to be reworked.

Most of the ASoC controls refer to the maximum value that can be set for
a control as mask but there is no actual requirement for all bits to be
set at the highest possible value making the name mask misleading.
Change the code to use max instead.

Some codecs have unusual features in their register maps such as very
large registers representing arrays of coefficients. Support these
codecs in the register cache sysfs file by allowing them to provide a
function register_display() overriding the default output for register
contents.
Also ensure that we don't overflow PAGE_SIZE while writing out the
register dump.

Currently very few systems provide information about jack status to user
space, even though many have hardware facilities to do detection. Those
systems that do use an input device with the existing SW_HEADPHONE_INSERT
switch type to do so, often independently of ALSA.
This patch introduces a standard method for representing jacks to user
space into ALSA. It allows drivers to register jacks for a sound card with
the input subsystem, binding the input device to the card to help user
space associate the input devices with their sound cards. The created
input devices are named in the form "card longname jack" where jack is
provided by the driver when allocating a jack. By default the parent for
the input device is the sound card but this can be overridden by the
card driver.
The existing user space API with SW_HEADPHONE_INSERT is preserved.

dapm_reg_event() is used by devices using SND_SOC_DAPM_REG() so needs to
be exported to support building them as modules and prototyped to avoid
sparse warnings and potential build issues.

When we read some part of a file through pagecache, if there is a
pagecache of corresponding index but this page is not uptodate, read IO
is issued and this page will be uptodate.
I think this is good for pagesize == blocksize environment but there is
room for improvement on pagesize != blocksize environment. Because in
this case a page can have multiple buffers and even if a page is not
uptodate, some buffers can be uptodate.
So I suggest that when all buffers which correspond to a part of a file
that we want to read are uptodate, use this pagecache and copy data from
this pagecache to user buffer even if a page is not uptodate. This can
reduce read IO and improve system throughput.
I wrote a benchmark program and got result number with this program.
This benchmark do:
1: mount and open a test file.
2: create a 512MB file.
3: close a file and umount.
4: mount and again open a test file.
5: pwrite randomly 300000 times on a test file. offset is aligned
by IO size(1024bytes).
6: measure time of preading randomly 100000 times on a test file.
The result was:

On ext3/4, a file is written through buffer/block. So random read/write
mixed workloads or random read after random write workloads are optimized

The original "Pass the bus number we expect the S3C24XX SPI driver to
attach to via the platform data." [1] patch was mis-sent, and missed two
important parts of the diff, which was to actually set the bus_num field
and add the relevant field to the platform data.
The previous commit 50f426b55d promised to
add a bus_num field, but failed to include the two hunks that added this
field to include/asm-arm/arch-s3c2410/spi.h and then pass it to the spi
core when creating the new master field in drivers/spi/spi_s3c24xx.c.
