ce94fe93d5 arm/arm64: KVM: PSCI: propagate caller endianness to the incoming vcpu
When booting a vcpu using PSCI, make sure we start it with the
endianness of the caller. Otherwise, secondaries can be pretty
unhappy to execute a BE kernel in LE mode...

This conforms to PSCI spec Rev B, 5.13.3.

Do the necessary byteswap when host and guest have different
views of the universe. Actually, the only case we need to take
care of is when the guest is BE. All the other cases are naturally
handled.

Also be careful about endianness when the data is being memcopy-ed

aeeca40426 x86, intel-mid: Do not re-introduce usage of obsolete __cpuinit
The commit 712b6aa873 [Nov7 linux-next
via tip/auto-latest] ("intel_mid: Renamed *mrst* to *intel_mid*")
adds a __cpuinit.

We removed this a couple versions ago; we now want to remove
the compat no-op stubs. Introducing new users is not what
we want to see at this point in time, as it will break once
the stubs are gone.

3baa976ae6 cpufreq: conservative: fix requested_freq reduction issue
When decreasing frequency, requested_freq may be less than
freq_target, So requested_freq minus freq_target may be negative,
But reqested_freq's unit is unsigned int, then the negative result
will be one larger interger which may be even higher than
requested_freq.

This patch is to fix such issue. when result becomes negative,
set requested_freq as the min value of policy.

7b98118aaa ACPI / hotplug: Consolidate deferred execution of ACPI hotplug routines
There are two different interfaces for queuing up work items on the
ACPI hotplug workqueue, alloc_acpi_hp_work() used by PCI and PCI host
bridge hotplug code and acpi_os_hotplug_execute() used by the common
ACPI hotplug code and docking stations. They both are somewhat
cumbersome to use and work slightly differently.

The users of alloc_acpi_hp_work() have to submit a work function that
will extract the necessary data items from a struct acpi_hp_work
object allocated by alloc_acpi_hp_work() and then will free that
object, while it would be more straightforward to simply use a work
function with one more argument and let the interface take care of
the execution details.

The users of acpi_os_hotplug_execute() also have to deal with the
fact that it takes only one argument in addition to the work function
pointer, although acpi_os_execute_deferred() actually takes care of
the allocation and freeing of memory, so it would have been able to
pass more arguments to the work function if it hadn't been
constrained by the connection with acpi_os_execute().

Moreover, while alloc_acpi_hp_work() makes GFP_KERNEL memory
allocations, which is correct, because hotplug work items are
always queued up from process context, acpi_os_hotplug_execute()
uses GFP_ATOMIC, as that is needed by acpi_os_execute(). Also,
acpi_os_execute_deferred() queued up by it waits for the ACPI event
workqueues to flush before executing the work function, whereas
alloc_acpi_hp_work() can't do anything similar. That leads to
somewhat arbitrary differences in behavior between various ACPI
hotplug code paths and has to be straightened up.

For this reason, replace both alloc_acpi_hp_work() and
acpi_os_hotplug_execute() with a single interface,
acpi_hotplug_execute(), combining their behavior and being more
friendly to its users than any of the two.

a749d13acd mtd: atmel_nand: fix bug driver will in a dead lock if no nand detected
In the atmel driver probe function, the code shows like following:
  atmel_nand_probe(...) {
        ...

  err_nand_ioremap:
        platform_driver_unregister(&atmel_nand_nfc_driver);
        return res;
  }

If no nand flash detected, the driver probe function will goto
err_nand_ioremap label.
Then platform_driver_unregister() will be called. It will get the
lock of atmel_nand device since it is parent of nfc_device. The
problem is the lock is already hold by atmel_nand_probe itself.
So system will be in a dead lock.

This patch just simply removed to platform_driver_unregister() call.
When atmel_nand driver is quit the platform_driver_unregister() will
be called in atmel_nand_remove().

[Brian: the NAND platform probe really has no business
 registering/unregistering another driver; this fixes the deadlock, but
 we should follow up the likely racy behavior here with a better
 architecture]

baab52ded2 PM / runtime: Use pm_runtime_put_sync() in __device_release_driver()
Commit fa180eb448 (PM / Runtime: Idle devices asynchronously after
probe|release) modified __device_release_driver() to call
pm_runtime_put(dev) instead of pm_runtime_put_sync(dev) before
detaching the driver from the device. However, that was a mistake,
because pm_runtime_put(dev) causes rpm_idle() to be queued up and
the driver may be gone already when that function is executed.
That breaks the assumptions the drivers have the right to make
about the core's behavior on the basis of the existing documentation
and actually causes problems to happen, so revert that part of
commit fa180eb448 and restore the previous behavior of
__device_release_driver().

It works by having evsel->priv have a per tracepoint structure with
entries for the fields, for direct access, with the offset and a
function to get the value from the sample, doing the swap if needed.

Using a simple workload that does M millions write syscalls, we go from:

 # perf stat -i -e cycles /tmp/oldperf trace ./sc_hello 100 > /dev/null

 Performance counter stats for '/tmp/oldperf trace ./sc_hello 100':

     8,366,771,459 cycles

       2.668025928 seconds time elapsed

 # perf stat -i -e cycles perf trace ./sc_hello 100 > /dev/null

 Performance counter stats for 'perf trace ./sc_hello 100':

     8,345,187,650 cycles

       2.631748425 seconds time elapsed

a614d01bdd perf tools: Fix version when building out of tree
When building perf out of tree:

  $ make perf-tar-src-pkg
  $ tar -xf perf-<ver>.tar -C /tmp
  $ cd /tmp/perf<ver>
  $ make -C tools/perf

you get this warning message:
    make[1]: *** No rule to make target `kernelversion'. Stop.

Fix it by saving the perf version in the tar file and using that for the
out of tree builds.

v2: removed short form request and fixed up version string from usual output.

efe4710860 ALSA: hda - Delay HDMI presence reports while waiting for ELD information
There is a small gap between the jack detection unsolicited event and
the time the ELD is updated. When user-space queries the HDMI ELD
immediately after receiving the notification, it might fail because of
this gap.

For avoiding such a problem, this patch tries to delay the HDMI jack
detect notification until ELD information is fully updated. The
workaround is imperfect, but good enough as a starting point.

a1212d278c Revert "sysfs: drop kobj_ns_type handling"
This reverts commit cb26a31157.

It mysteriously causes NetworkManager to not find the wireless device
for me. As far as I can tell, Tejun *meant* for this commit to not make
any semantic changes, but there clearly are some. So revert it, taking
into account some of the calling convention changes that happened in
this area in subsequent commits.

f44f2a5417 ALSA: compress: fix drain calls blocking other compress functions (v6)
The drain and drain_notify callback were blocked by low level driver
until the draining was complete. Due to this being invoked with big
fat mutex held, others ops like reading timestamp, calling pause, drop
were blocked.

So to fix this we add a new snd_compr_drain_notify() API. This would
be required to be invoked by low level driver when drain or partial
drain has been completed by the DSP. Thus we make the drain and
partial_drain callback as non blocking and driver returns immediately
after notifying DSP. The waiting is done while releasing the lock so
that other ops can go ahead.

  patch. This commit corrects to the final version.
