917f56caaa kernfs: add struct dentry declaration in kernfs.h
Hello, Greg.

Two misc fixes for kernfs.

Thanks.
------- 8< -------
struct dentry is used in kernfs.h but its declaration was missing,
leading to compilation errors unless its declaration gets pulled in in
some other way. Add the declaration.

bd23c5b661 ASoC: dapm: Fix double prefix addition
The prefix for the codec driver can be used during dual identical
codec usecases. However, dapm adds prefix twice for codec DAI widget
in snd_soc_dapm_add_route API.

This change is to avoid double prefix addition for codec DAI widget
and is needed while using identical dual codecs.

2a99ef0fdb ASoC: compress: Add suport for DPCM into compressed audio
Currently compressed audio streams are statically routed from the /dev
to the DAI link. Some DSPs can route compressed data to multiple BE DAIs
like they do for PCM data.

Add support to allow dynamically routed compressed streams using the existing
DPCM infrastructure. This patch adds special FE versions of the compressed ops
that work out the runtime routing.

463654cec2 spi: sc18is602: Convert to use bits_per_word_mask
Since commit 543bb25 "spi: add ability to validate xfer->bits_per_word in SPI
core", the driver can set bits_per_word_mask for the master then the SPI core
will reject transfers that attempt to use an unsupported bits_per_word value.
So we can remove the bits_per_word checking in sc18is602_check_transfer() and
let SPI core handle the checking.

4e47f91bf7 gpio: mcp23s08: Add irq functionality for i2c chips
This adds interrupt functionality for i2c chips to the driver.
They can act as a interrupt-controller and generate interrupts, if
the inputs change.
This is tested with a mcp23017 chip on an arm based platform.

v3:
- be a bit more clear that the irq functionality is also available
on spi versions of the chips, but the linux driver does not support
  this yet

v2:
- some more word about irq-mirror property in binding doc
- use of_read_bool instead of of_find_property for
  "interrupt-contrller" and "irq-mirror"
- cache the "interrupt-controller" for remove function
- do set the irq-mirror bit only if device is marked as
  interrupt-controller
- do create the irq mapping and setup of irq_desc of all possible
interrupts in probe path instead of in gpio_to_irq
- mark gpios as in use as interrupts in irq in irq_startup and
  unlock it in irq_shutdown
- rename virq to child_irq
- remove dev argument from mcp23s08_irq_setup function
- move gpiochip_add before mcp23s08_irq_setup in probe path

If a new callchain branch doesn't match a single entry of the node that

b965bb4106 perf callchain: Spare double comparison of callchain first entry
When a new callchain child branch matches an existing one in the rbtree,
the comparison of its first entry is performed twice:

1) From append_chain_children() on branch lookup

2) If 1) reports a match, append_chain() then compares all entries of
the new branch against the matching node in the rbtree, and this
comparison includes the first entry of the new branch again.

Lets shortcut this by performing the whole comparison only from
append_chain() which then returns the result of the comparison between
the first entry of the new branch and the iterating node in the rbtree.
If the first entry matches, the lookup on the current level of siblings
stops and propagates to the children of the matching nodes.

This results in less comparisons performed by the CPU.

f5d2b7c28b fbmem: really support wildcard video=options for all fbdev drivers
Documentation/fb/modedb.txt states that video=option should be
considered a global option. But video_setup and fb_get_options are not
coded that way. Instead its required to boot with video=driver:option to
set a given option in drvier. This is cumbersome because it requires to
know in advance which driver will be active for a given board/kernel.

The following patch implements the documented catchall for the fbdev
drivers. It is now possible to boot with video=XxY without the need to
know the active driver in advance. The specific case it tries to fix is
syslinux in the SUSE installer which offers a menu to set a display
resolution. Right now this just appends the vga= option the kernel. But
in addition to vga= it should be possible to pass a generic video=XxY
for all framebuffer/drm drivers. With this change forcing a certain
window size of VM displays is now much easier.

Today the video= option is stored in a global fb_mode_option. But
unfortunately only drm uses it.

Note: this change introduces a small memleak if video=option is actually
used because fb_mode_option is const. Most drivers use strsep to get to
individual options. This could be fixed in a followup patch which always
releases the option string in every caller of fb_get_options.

In this case ops->cursor_state.mask is allocated in bit_cursor() but
not freed in fbcon_exit(). So, fbcon_exit() needs to free buffer in its
process.
In the case, fbcon_exit() was called from fbcon_deinit() when driver
called remove_conflicting_framebuffers().

838bdf723b video: mxsfb: fix broken videomode selection
Currently the driver re-implements the code found in of_get_videomode()
except for the fact that the latter honors the 'native-mode' property
to select a spcific video timing from the list of possible timings.
The driver builds up a list of all video timings, but uses only the
last mode from the list anyway. While building the list it incorrectly
OR's the 'pixelclk-active' and 'de-active' flags of all modes into
single flags, possibly leading to a wrong pixelclock or data-enable
polarity setting.

Fix this by using the of_get_videomode() directly with the
OF_USE_NATIVE_MODE flag.

Since all current dts files only have one entry in their
display-timings node, this bug was not apparent and the fix does not
change the driver's behaviour for the current users.
