5a148af669 Merge branch 'next' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/benh/powerpc
Pull powerpc update from Benjamin Herrenschmidt:
"The main highlights this time around are:

   - A pile of addition POWER8 bits and nits, such as updated
performance counter support (Michael Ellerman), new branch history
buffer support (Anshuman Khandual), base support for the new PCI
host bridge when not using the hypervisor (Gavin Shan) and other
random related bits and fixes from various contributors.

   - Some rework of our page table format by Aneesh Kumar which fixes a
thing or two and paves the way for THP support. THP itself will
not make it this time around however.

   - More Freescale updates, including Altivec support on the new e6500
cores, new PCI controller support, and a pile of new boards support
     and updates.

   - The usual batch of trivial cleanups & fixes"

dfbc32316c OMAPFB: defer probe if no displays
omapfb requires the panel drivers to have been probed when omapfb is
initialized. omapfb does not support insertion of new panels after its
probe. This causes a problem in case omapdss or the panel probes have
been deferred due to EPROBE_DEFER error, as omapfb won't find any
displays.

As a quick fix, this patch changes the omapfb probe so that if omapfb
does not find any displays, it'll return EPROBE_DEFER. This is not
perfect, as with a board with no displays, omapfb will get deferred
forever. Also, if the board has multiple displays, but only some of them
have been probed, omapfb will start and leave the unprobed displays out.

ca96e201ff OMAPDSS: Makefile: move omapfb after panels
omapfb requires the panels to have been probed before omapfb's probe. We
currently manage that by having omapfb in late initcall level. However,

after the panel drivers.

Commit 100c826235 (OMAPDSS: DPI: use new

Fix compilation by adding dummy inline functions for the ones that dpi.c
references. The functions will never be called, as dpi.c knows that
there is no DSI device available.

c365e59d47 backlight: lp855x: remove duplicate platform data
The 'load_new_rom_data' was used for checking whether new ROM data should
be updated or not.

However, we can decide it with 'size_program' data. If the size is
greater than 0, it means updating ROM area is required. Otherwise, the
default ROM data will be used. Therefore, this duplicate platform data
can be removed.

0b81857339 backlight: lp855x: move backlight mode platform data
The brightness of LP855x devices is controlled by I2C register or PWM
input . This mode was selected through the platform data, but it can be
chosen by the driver internally without platform data configuration.

How to decide the control mode:
If the PWM period has specific value, the mode is PWM input.
On the other hand, the mode is register-based.
This mode selection is done on the _probe().

Move 'mode' from a header file to the driver private data structure,
'lp855 x'. And correlated code was replaced.

46e1915eef drivers/video/backlight/platform_lcd.c: introduce probe callback
Platform LCD devices may need to do some device-specific initialization
before they can be used (regulator or GPIO setup, for example), but
currently the driver does not support any way of doing this. This patch
adds a probe() callback to plat_lcd_data which platform LCD devices can
set to indicate that device-specific initialization is needed.

("atmel_lcdfb: backlight control").

Two of these typos were introduced in v2.6.25. (The third was
introduced in 915190f7d4 ("[ARM] 5614/1: at91: atmel_lcdfb: add
at91sam9g10 support to atmel LCD driver")). Checking these commits
reveals that the default value of 'y' has never been set automatically
in all releases since v2.6.25! Perhaps this line might as well be
dropped.
