powerpc: Trivially merge several headers from asm-ppc64 to asm-powerpc For these, I have just done the lame-o merge where the file ends up looking like: #ifndef CONFIG_PPC64 #include <asm-ppc/foo.h> #else ... contents from asm-ppc64/foo.h #endif so nothing has changed, really, except that we reduce include/asm-ppc64 a bit more. [PATCH] powerpc: sanitize header files for user space includes include/asm-ppc/ had #ifdef __KERNEL__ in all header files that are not meant for use by user space, include/asm-powerpc does not have this yet. This patch gets us a lot closer there. There are a few cases where I was not sure, so I left them out. I have verified that no CONFIG_* symbols are used outside of __KERNEL__ any more and that there are no obvious compile errors when including any of the headers in user space libraries. We will later change the 64 bit 64K_PAGES version to support smaller PTE fragments. The patch doesn't introduce any functional changes. powerpc/mm: Rework & cleanup page table freeing code path That patch used to just add a hook to page table flushing but pulling that string brought out a whole bunch of issues, so it now does that and more: - We now make the RCU batching of page freeing SMP only, as I believe it was intended initially. We make a few more things compile to nothing on !CONFIG_SMP - Some macros are turned into functions, though that forced me to out of line a few stuffs due to unsolvable include depenencies, however it's probably better that way anyway, it's not -that- critical code path. - 32-bit didn't call pte_free_finish() on tlb_flush() which means that it wouldn't push out the batch to RCU for delayed freeing when a bunch of page tables have been freed, they would just stay in there until the batch gets full. 64-bit BookE will use that hook to maintain the virtually linear page tables or the indirect entries in the TLB when using the HW loader. [POWERPC] Remove arch/powerpc's dependence on asm-ppc/pg{alloc,table}.h Currently, all 32-bit powerpc platforms use asm-ppc/pgtable.h and asm-ppc/pgalloc.h, even when otherwise compiled with ARCH=powerpc. Those asm-ppc files are a fairly nasty tangle of #ifdefs including a bunch of things which shouldn't be necessary any more in arch/powerpc. Cleaning up that mess is going to take a while, but this patch is a first step. It separates the asm-powerpc/pg{alloc,table}.h into 64 bit and 32 bit versions in asm-powerpc, which the basic .h files in asm-powerpc select based on config. We make a few tiny tweaks to the innards of the files along the way, making the outermost ifdefs (double-inclusion protection and __KERNEL__) a little cleaner, and #including asm-generic/pgtable.h from the top-level asm-powerpc/pgtable.h (since both the old 32-bit and 64-bit versions ended with such an #include). [PATCH] ppc64: support 64k pages Adds a new CONFIG_PPC_64K_PAGES which, when enabled, changes the kernel base page size to 64K. The resulting kernel still boots on any hardware. On current machines with 4K pages support only, the kernel will maintain 16 "subpages" for each 64K page transparently. Note that while real 64K capable HW has been tested, the current patch will not enable it yet as such hardware is not released yet, and I'm still verifying with the firmware architects the proper to get the information from the newer hypervisors. Linux-2.6.12-rc2 Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
