Linux-2.6.12-rc2 Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!

arm: convert core files from module.h to export.h Many of the core ARM kernel files are not modules, but just including module.h for exporting symbols. Now these files can use the lighter footprint export.h for this role. There are probably lots more, but ARM files of mach-* and plat-* don't get coverage via a simple yesconfig build. Some general cleanups are entailed. Storing mcount addresses in rec->ip enables looking them up in the kprobe hash table later on to check if they're kprobe'd. ARM: 7452/1: delay: allow timer-based delay implementation to be selected This patch allows a timer-based delay implementation to be selected by switching the delay routines over to use get_cycles, which is implemented in terms of read_current_timer. This further allows us to skip the loop calibration and have a consistent delay function in the face of core frequency scaling. To avoid the pain of dealing with memory-mapped counters, this implementation uses the co-processor interface to the architected timers when they are available. The previous loop-based implementation is kept around for CPUs without the architected timers and we retain both the maximum delay (2ms) and the corresponding conversion factors for determining the number of loops required for a given interval. Since the indirection of the timer routines will only work when called from C, the sa1100 sleep routines are modified to branch to the loop-based delay functions directly. [ARM] Remove the __arch_* layer from uaccess.h Back in the days when we had armo (26-bit) and armv (32-bit) combined, we had an additional layer to the uaccess macros to ensure correct typing. ftrace: rename FTRACE to FUNCTION_TRACER Due to confusion between the ftrace infrastructure and the gcc profiling tracer "ftrace", this patch renames the config options from FTRACE to FUNCTION_TRACER. The other two names that are offspring from FTRACE DYNAMIC_FTRACE and FTRACE_MCOUNT_RECORD will stay the same. This patch was generated mostly by script, and partially by hand. ARM: P2V: introduce phys_to_virt/virt_to_phys runtime patching This idea came from Nicolas, Eric Miao produced an initial version, which was then rewritten into this. Patch the physical to virtual translations at runtime. As we modify the code, this makes it incompatible with XIP kernels, but allows us to achieve this with minimal loss of performance. As many translations are of the form: physical = virtual + (PHYS_OFFSET - PAGE_OFFSET) virtual = physical - (PHYS_OFFSET - PAGE_OFFSET) we generate an 'add' instruction for __virt_to_phys(), and a 'sub' instruction for __phys_to_virt(). We calculate at run time (PHYS_OFFSET - PAGE_OFFSET) by comparing the address prior to MMU initialization with where it should be once the MMU has been initialized, and place this constant into the above add/sub instructions. Once we have (PHYS_OFFSET - PAGE_OFFSET), we can calculate the real PHYS_OFFSET as PAGE_OFFSET is a build-time constant, and save this for the C-mode PHYS_OFFSET variable definition to use. At present, we are unable to support Realview with Sparsemem enabled as this uses a complex mapping function, and MSM as this requires a constant which will not fit in our math instruction. Add a module version magic string for this feature to prevent incompatible modules being loaded.
